KiwiSpace and the NZ Rocketry Association are pleased to announce the return and evolution of the NZ Rocketry Challenge, which was piloted late 2012. And we’d like to invite your school to join in the fun!
The competition is designed to provide Year 7 and 8 Students a realistic experience in designing a flying aerospace vehicle that meets a specified set of mission and performance requirements. THE CHALLENGE: Students are tasked to design and build a safe and stable model rocket and use it to safely lift a fragile payload (one raw hen's egg) to an altitude of exactly 150 metres, then to return the payload safely and undamaged. Closest to the target altitude, wins. For info and rules, check out **www.rocketcontest.org.nz** Category Five – Student design & we build
All types of kinetic conceptual designs by intermediate and secondary school students are eligible for entry.

t's time to start getting ready for National Poetry Day 2014, NZ's annual celebration of poetry. Every year communities across the country stage a series of public events and activities that bring NZ poetry off the page and into the lives of as many people as possible. National Poetry Day will be on the 22nd of August this year, in association with the New Zealand Post Book Awards, and registrations are now open. All registered events and activities will be included in the official calendar of events. Once again, seed funding is available for up to $400 in the main centres and $200 everywhere else.
